Massive pike on the Freestyler 23.01.2012
This weekend, our Slovenian Savage Gear consultant, Jure Ramovz, went fishing on a lake near his house in pursuit of pike. The water was extremely clear, the sun was out, and during in the morning hours it was still freezing.
In other words, the conditions weren't optimal, but Jure wasn't discouraged. He carried on with some long, accurate casts and fished a fluorocarbon-traced Freestyler close to the shoreline and the drop offs.
All of a sudden a big pike comes up behind his lure and follows it. It is completely mesmerized by the lure, but it doesn't take it until Jure starts to implement some spin stops. Out of nowhere, the pike suddenly inhales the lure, and the fight is on!
The massive fish struggles but in the end it surrenders and is boated - and after a few pictures, Jure releases the 10kilo + fish.

Da'Bush rocks! 18.01.2012
From our UK Savage Gear consultant, Phil Blakey, we have the following report.
"I managed to get out with my pal "Jammy" Bob this afternoon (Sunday). It was bitterly cold with brilliant sunshine, the water was quite coloured.
As dusk approached, I settled for a 32g Yellow/Silver Da'Bush spinnerbait and fished it slow and steady. The light had virtually gone when i suddenly got a violent hit. Sadly, I didn't hook up, but almost immediately after - it hit again. Still no hook up!!! The third time, I was lucky as the pike slack lined me and i pulled into what turned out to be a lovely pike.
It's pretty unusual for a pike to smash a lure 3 times at this time of the year and then fight as hard as it did. Da'Bush just keeps producing for me!"

Daniel Start 2012 in big way! 09.01.2012
Hi Savage Gear, Me and Alrik went out again some a few hours of deadbaiting again. We had a firm wind creating big waves. The pike apperently we're triggered because we had 3 takes in the first half hour resulting into some nice pike, including a nice double for Alrik. After that it went Calm for a while but because of the lack of some more reachable spots in that area moving wasn't an option. Instead we reeled in 2 rods, injected the Baits with some fishoil and cast them back into the deep. After half an hour we caught 2 more nice fish including a 20! The 30lbs Softflex is just great for deadbait traces besides luretraces. The SG rubbermesh foldingnet is really helpfull too when deadbaiting because the trebles mostly are deeper inside their huge mouth so it's unwise to chin them out when you haven't got a clear view on the trebles position. An hour later when it was already getting dark I began to cast with a 10cm yellow Grub on a 5gr jighead. I was hoping to seduce one of the many zanders that the lake holds. After 10 minutes it felt I got stuck on a snag. I knew there were some remains of vegetation in that area but suddenly it began to move! My Jig 'n Spin 5-20 bend like a straw while the fish took off and seemed unstoppable on such light tackle. The drag of the Okuma Trio 20 was tested to the limit trying not to break the 13lbs adrenaline. After 15 minutes the fish finally was within reach of the net and I yelled when she slipped in. She was 104 cm and weighed 22lbs 4oz. It was a very unexpected catch but a more than welcome start for 2012!
Great Start Daniel - we can't wait for next report!

Massive Pike on Soft 4play! 05.01.2012
Uk Predator angler, Robert Kew, just caught this massive UK pike of 41lb 8 oz - 18,8kg!! Robert tells us " The fish came on my 3rd cast and the lure was fished sink and draw with sharp twitches and then left to flutter down through the water, the fish hit the bait as it was falling after just 2 twitches!!! I think because the bait was soft the fish held on much longer than usual enabling me to set the hooks well! There were no other fish caught by any other angler on that day!!! Robert fished a 19cm soft 4Play in Perch color - rigged "ready to fish" on a offset treble hook! The Fish was returned unharmed! We congratulate Robert with the massive fish and great achievement!

Marco's X-Mas Monster 19.12.2011
Marco Giudici's is just not resting! He is so impressed with the down shot method, that he is almost addicted!! This time Marco, had his first try with our new great Sandeel slugs – and the result was impressive – a big banana, showed up on the sounder, several times, in an area with big rocks and a shelf on a drop off. Intense fishing on the area with the medium size Slug (16,5cm) – resulted in a hard hit and solid resistance! After a steady battle – the massive fish was in the net – without any trouble! It turned out to a real biggie – HUGE proportions – 120cm and 69cm girth – tipping the scales on 18,6kg – what a Monster!! After measure shot and scales on the bank, the fish was returned unharmed.
The down Shot method, with the sandeel slug, will be very interesting to follow in the new season - we will bring detail instruction on how to set up!
We congratulate Marco – with one more monster!! What will be next?

The Cannibal saves the day 12.12.2011
From our Croatian Savage Gear consultant, Dalien Vignjevic, we have the following:
'I was just driving home from a short two hour session without a take and was concluding with myself - it wasn`t me, the zander were simply not active! And then my phone rang.
As the display showed my friend`s Igor Pavičić name, I immediately knew he caught something good when calling so late. " Hello?! " " I caught a big one!" So much for my theory of the fish not being active....
It turned out, the zander he caught was 8,6kg - a real stunner! The best part of it is that he caught it on the stretch of river Drava believed not to have zander at all!
He rigged his favorite 12,5 Cannibal shad in white pearl on a 18 gr jig head to trigger a strike. He used precise and vigorous jigging action on a micro location he picked on a rip rap bank.
I guess there are always fish to be caught for those who know how...'

Marco is on a roll! 07.12.2011
Here's Marco Giudici's latest catch - a massive and heavily built 110cm pike, which once again was caught using drop shot techniques and little Savage Gear Dying Minnows. The fishing has been difficult lately due to extremely clear and cold water, but Marco is living proof that finesse and patience conquers all.

The ´pike man´pulls yet another one 01.12.2011
Our Italian Savage Gear consultant, Marco Giudici, has done it again. He has landed another massive Italian predator in the most difficult conditions possible - in cold, clear and deep water.
This big, 115cm fish was caught using elastic drop shot techniques, and the lure that deceived the pike was a Dying Minnow.
