Pre-spawn Monsters
01.04.2015
Our Danish Savage Gear consultant and predator expert, Mikkel Matzen, has been busy prior to the season closing on April 1st.

"This time, I had just put out the rods when the first fish struck. To my great joy, I could land a beautiful Pike at 109cm and 11,8kg. After a short photo session, I quickly put her back again and started to rig the rods. I had barely put the first rod back in its place, before it was violently taken. I could feel that it was a good fish, and when it was in the net, I could see that it also was a beautiful fish in very good condition. The fish was 100cm and 10,3kg. Both fish were caught on my favorite lure, the 40cm Real Eal.

After fishing in less than an hour I already had two 10+kg fish in the boat, and I was extremely excited and the adrenaline was pumping. Could I have hit one of those days we all dream of? Where everything falls out to your advantage? I hurried back out on the water and quickly put the rods back in place – I wanted to be ready for the next fish. Sadly the strikes were absent the rest of the day, but I am still very pleased with these two beautiful specimens".

Total Eclipse Madness
24.03.2015
On Friday's trip, when the sun suddenly got blotted out, the fishing just kept getting better and better, says Anthony Glascoe. Sunday followed with yet another mega session with the Crazy Blade and 3D Bleaks paving the way3. The fish were super-aggressive and they came to the lures with great confidence and ferocity!

Dutch Zander on the Diving Prey
16.03.2015
"After a busy period of open days and work I finally had the chance to go out and target riverfish with my pal Alrik. Trolling and casting with the Diving Preys can be very rewarding and also great fun because you can expect litteraly every predator that's out there: pike, zander, perch, asp, ide etc.

This time it was mainly zander that took our small cranks at a depth of between 3 and 4 meter. Biggest fish was this pre-spawn zander weighing 7,5kg! Diving Prey 63 smolt was the culprit. Gear used: Bushwacker XLNT2 3-18gr, Okuma Helios 25 and 0.10 hd4 braid".

The Monster Slug Does It Again
10.03.2015
Magazine Editor, Ivo Begovic, who joined Dalien Vignjevic on one of his recent trips managed a lunker zander - a beautiful 6,6 kilo fish that hit the lure with great determination. The winning lure on Dalien's latest trips has been the Savage Gear Monster Slug fished vertically - and super slowly - along the bottom.

126cm pike on the Herring Shad
03.03.2015
This insane 126 cm pike was caught by the Aspius pro fishing team in Poland. The 25 cm Herring Shad proves as a winner again and again for the really big pike.

The monster fish was released immediately after this picture was taken, and the weight remains unknown.

120cm+ Pike
23.02.2015
What a BEAST! This massive 120cm+ pike was caught this weekend by Daniel Abeln when he headed out with German Savage Gear consultant, Christian Wieneke.

The fish was caught on a 25cm Herring Shad in the Firetiger colour. The robust fish put up a fiery-tempered fight, but in the end it had to surrender. It was measured, photographed and quickly released. And it ended up being one out of three 110cm+ pike in the boat that day. Impressive!

Wading for Pike
10.02.2015
This is how men do it! Ant Glascoe, our amazing UK consultant, recently went wading in close to freezing temperatures in order to adjust to lethargic pike. He went in using smaller lures such as the 4Play Pro shads - and wading waist deep, he was able to cast the lure along undercut banks, sunken trees and the like.

The trick was to fish the lures ultra-slow with enticing micro-movements.

An immaculate Perch

Here's an incredibly beautiful and rather weighty perch caught by Michal Radziszewicz from Poland. The hefty fish was caught on a Savage Gear Cannibal Shad, and it was safely released after a quick couple of shots.
