Winter Lure Action!

From our Croatian, Savage Gear consultant, Dalien – we received a cold but great report! “This last period we went out for a fishing trips on a newly opened lake...(this is probably the best pike water in Croatia at the moment) it was tough fishing and you could only hope for a bite in a days time fishing...30 people where on the water the first day - but only a dozen managed to get that one bite - luckily both Zdravko and me were among them!
Cannibal lures worked best, I caught my 6,7 kg pike (pictured) on a 15 cm Cannibal shad in Gold minnow colour rigged on a light jig head with addition of a trailer hook on the back for a better hook up. Zdravko`s nice pike also picked up a Cannibal Shad. A few days later, we went out again – this time the 16cm Deviator, fished with big slide and long hang in the water – was magic! “

Happy New Year!

French Prologic & Savage Gear consultant, Denis Curot spent a few days targeting big Zanders from the bank on a Local flooded river. In addition to a good number of medium sized Zanders from 1 to 4 kilos, Denis also caught two big ones, 94cm and 8,4kg, 96cm and 9,2kg!. What MONSTER fish! All the Zanders were caught on 8cm Grubs in Lemon color and 8cm Cannibal Shads in Orange Glow color mounted on new 2010 release SG Ball Jigheads.

Super X-mas Perch Bonanza!

Danish fishing ace, Peder Lichtenberg, enjoyed some amazing Perch fishing just prior to the Ice settling. In Just a few hours of fishing, Peter and his friend, landed 30 superior perch from 800g up to 1500g, all on Carolina rigged 6cm Savage Grubs in the colours Orange Glow, Blood Red and X-mas colours! Pictured is Peter, with one super specimen Perch all dressed in X-mas colours!

Unstoppable Joker!

The Joker – is unstoppable these days – not long after his monster 15,6kg fish – he is at it again – with yet another 15kg+ fish! After Christian and Henrik’s great adventure 2 weeks ago – Christian felt the urge to try his local lake, where some very big fish have been caught during recent years. This time the medicine was big live baits, freelined in the ginclear water – just some 30meters behind the boat. At noon, after 2 hours of eventless drifting over deep water, the right hand rod livebait started to panic – seconds later it was hammered – and line was pulled of the reel in calm and steady pace. Christian leaned into the fish with a long pull, setting the hooks perfect – immediately he could feel it was a big fish!! After a great fight – he could net the incredible well build fish – and on the matt – it was obvious another monster was reality!
On the scales the fish pulled 15,2kg – what a monster!! Christians MP Pro 9’ 40-100g rod seems to be a magic wand – the latest fish caught on this rod being 12,3kg – 15,6kg and 15,2kg! Christian used a 2m long combi trace – tied from Spectrum FC and muddy brown 30 lbs Softflex wire and 2 P1 size 4 trebles.
We congratulate – the Joker with his second 15kg+ fish within weeks! What's next??

Butch21 does it again!

From German Rute & Rolle Team, with Christopher Paschmanns and Arnulf Ehrchen, we received a short report from their short trip to Denmark last week.
“Once a year the whole editorial team of German fishing magazine Rute & Rolle spends a weekend discussing their own magazines, planning new trips – and fish together. 2009 saw them fishing Silkeborg lakes area in Denmark. Certainly information about the lakes was gathered beforehand, so some hot spots on the enormous chain of river “Gudenå” lakes could be selected before the trip. With detailed hints both from local experts and some German predator fisherman decisions where a lot easier. Fishing started on Friday and the sunny day in Denmark turned into a very special one for Rute & Rolle-editor Arnulf Ehrchen. Trolling the 21-cm Savage Gear Butch, which already gave him several big fish this season resulted in a fat 80 cm Zander late morning. The fish took the super naturalistic walleye-colour fished about 5m down over six meters of water - What a start! But the best was still to come. After hours giving very few fish for the whole team, the weather changed dramatically. Rain starting and strong winds blowing across the lake turned the fish on within minutes. Over ten meters of water Arnulf’s Butch was hit hard once again and a violent ten minute battle started. But with two of the three Owner trebles firmly in the upper jaw the fish did not have a chance to escape and was netted first time on the surface. So Arnulf finally found the time for admiring his new personal best pike – measuring a fantastic 123 cm and in perfect condition, with a very broad back! Joy was overwhelming with the whole team as most of the other members shared the excitement of the fight in their boats close to Arnulf’s. Both super fish where released to grow even bigger after a short foto session! The article about the trip with more fish and all the information on the lakes will be in the March-issue of Rute & Rolle.”
We congratulate Arnulf Ehrchen, with the super Zander and the new incredible PB pike – that we are sure is over 15kg+ !! The Butch 21cm did it again, a real magic lure when it comes to big predators.

More Monsters for Joker & Lund!

Once more, the Savage Gear Team, represented by Henrik S. Lund and the Joker makes headlines and proof's that they are true poiners and really knows how to turn plan and dreams to big fish in the boat! Here is a short and crisp report "Lund and I just got back from one of your pike fishing trips on a big European venue where we both knew a big fish was swimmin. The conditions seemed perfect, but the fishing turned out to be extremely difficult. After 2 days of fishing with very few fish we decided to change tactic's. Fishing the big lake with natural baits was not the recipie for success. With this method we where only covering a little percent of the lake and therefore we decided to change method. Our backup plan was trolling big lures on the edges and drop off 's. With this method we could cover a lot of water and hopefully find just the dream fish we where looking for. We were not looking for a lot of fish, just the right ONE. We used the 25cm 4play together with the big Butch and of course the big Alien Eel. Newer go pike fishing without these 3 troubleshooters !!
After only a few minutes of trolling, my beloved 9' MP Pro trigger rod bend to the handle in the rod holder as a big mamma had inhaled the 124g Alien Eel. After a short powerfull fight, Lund was cool with the net and landed my dream fish. What a beauty, she was 120 cm Long and build like a true warrior, pulling the scales to 15.6 kg! An unbelievable fish I can tell you, and watching her go back in the ginclear water was awesome, I am still smiling - truely a fish of a lifetime - almost certainly a first time capture from a massive waterbody. This seasons trips to different waters and countries have proven the Alien eel to be a very good big pike lure, and one of the best trolling lures we ever tried - I truly RESPECT MY EEL - Brgds Joker"

We congratulate the Joker, with one more monster pike - we have a hard time to keep track of all the big fish the two anglers have caught - but it is mindblowing and an achievement that most anglers only dream of.

Hectic Pikefishing!

The last week, conditions have been improving for Pike fishing in most regions – the Late fall is finally coming and water is clearing up – that means Hectic Pike fishing!! Savage Gear Product Manager, Mads Grosell, was out with customers on 2 occasions during the last week and even though the fishing was challenging – a lot of fine fish was caught – all on lures! Most effective was the 4Play Swim & Jerk and the Deviator 16cm Jerkbait in a new 2010 colour – called Pigment error! Pictured here is Mads, with one very angry pike, from a flooded river stretch. The fish was hiding under a sunken tree and came flying out from the ambush with amazing speed and attacked the 13cm 4Play swim & Jerk in Lemon back colour, that Mads fished “wakebait” style on the surface. The fish measured 95cm and was released straight away.
The Famous and well assorted Danish Fishing tackle shop www.jagtogfiskerimagasinet.dk had a great guided Pikefishing trip the southern Danish Brakish water areas sponsored by Savage Gear – many fine fish where caught – again the 4Play swim and Jerk in 19cm and brownish colours was a safe bet! - check out the galley – to see all the super fish and smiling faces!
